This is something I had to look into, for personal reasons. And what a rabbit hole. So here are some resources regardless of if you are interested, fascinated, or in an energetic/spiritual pickle.
Facebook groups. Meet other people on the same page, maybe:
Kundalini Awakening and DNA Activation
Spiritual Awakening, Chakras, Kundalini and Astrology Q&A Group
Kundalini coaches:
Monique Rebelle – Monique has a course to develop your chakras
Bonnie Greenwell – Bonnie has passed but her legacy of work and material is legendary (also watch this video)
Ashrams where you can learn Kundalini Yoga which is legit:
Sri Yoga Peeth – Rishikesh, India
Really really good books:
Kundalini Tantra – The seminal book on developing and managing your energetic body
Transcendence Calling – Monique’s book on her experience
There’s also a lot of confusion with the word Kundalini. Yes, it’s two Sanskrit words meaning roughly coiled line (and yes there are a lot of other interpretations) but a lot like Tantra the term is becoming popular to tack on to anything. Here are a few tries at definitions (on which no one agrees so take it with a grain of salt):
Kundalini Yoga: Actually I’m going to defer to wikipedia here. I will note that most Kundalini Yoga in the west descends from a single teacher, whereas Kundalini Yoga as taught in Asia has a wider range. If you have tried Kundalini Yoga as taught from the single western lineage and didn’t connect with it you may find the original teachings authentic.
Kundalini Awakening: The problem here is the name suggests, well, it just woke up. And that should be how it’s used, but the term is used commonly to denote a full 7 chakra awakening, which is pretty rare unless you did a lot of work in previous lifetimes. So to be clear, when speaking of a complete rising of the Kundalini to the crown it’s best to use Full Complete Kundalini Awakening
Kundalini Rising: The process of the Kundalini moving from its home near the root Chakra upwards, a journey of minutes or lifetimes.
Partial Kundalini Awakening: Some chakras are pierced, meaning completely opened by the energy during the Kundalini’s passing up the Sushumna. It’s possible for the energy to fall back and for the chakas to close again. Don’t worry, it’s still a good sign, it can happen again with a little practice and diligence.
Sushumna: The central and most important nadi (energetic pathway in your body) which connects your root and crown chakras.
Chakra Opening: This is possibly what is happening when people think they are having a Kundalini Awakening. Still amazing, and evidence of growth, but your Shakti is still sleeping. Your chakras open and close all the time based on energy, circumstance, and development. This can be felt by learning to connect with the dimensions associated with each.
